Making a gift to The Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland can be as simple as writing a check or as sophisticated as creating an estate plan.
Options include:
Outright gifts - The CFGL accepts gifts of cash, securities, real estate, life insurance, or tangible personal property.
Deferred gifts - The CFGL offers many attractive options to help individuals accomplish specific philanthropic and personal objectives. These vehicles include charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, life insurance or an IRA.
Special Situations - The CFGL also works with individuals, families or corporations with special situations such as transferring assets of a private foundation, or liquidating a company.
The Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland is happy to work with you and your attorney, trust officer, accountant, or other financial advisor to assist you in connecting your generosity with the community that you call home.
- Cash
Let's say that when you give to charity, you like to give cash. You would write a check and that's that. It's simple and straightforward and everybody likes it. Or is there a better way?
Here's one. You establish Your Fund with the CFGL and request a payment to your favorite charity whenever you can afford to. The Fund grows over time. Some years you can afford to add more to your Fund, some less. You can get a full tax deduction for your contribution in the year you make it. Only the income generated by the money you contribute to the Fund needs to be distributed. Or you can ask that we pay out the principal periodically. The Fund has great flexibility and gives you immediate and maximum tax deductibility.
Planned Gifts
There are a variety of deferred giving methods tailored to your unique situation so that you and your loved ones can enjoy financial security and provide resources for community needs for generations to come.
- Bequest by Will
A legacy of giving.
Including a charitable bequest in your will is a simple way to make a lasting gift to your community. When you make this gift through your community foundation, we establish a special fund that benefits the community forever and becomes your personal legacy of giving.
- Charitable Gift Annuity
Income for today, a gift for tomorrow.
Giving through a Charitable Gift Annuity allows you to arrange a generous gift to your community, while providing yourself a new income source you can count on for the rest of your life.
- Charitable Remainder Trust
Planning for the future - for you and your community.
Giving through a Charitable Remainder Trust allows you to receive income for the rest of your life, knowing that whatever remains will benefit your community.
- Charitable Lead Trust
Giving back to community and your loved ones.
A Charitable Lead Trust helps you remove assets from your estate and build a charitable fund with your community foundation during the trust's term. When the trust terminates, the remaining assets are transferred to you or your heirs, often with significant transfer-tax savings.
- Life Insurance
A simple way to give a significant gift.
Giving through life insurance is one for the simplest ways to make a significant contribution to your community and establish your legacy of giving. You can make a gift when life insurance is no longer needed for personal financial wealth replacement.
There is so much more we'd like you to know. Contact the Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland for more information and ideas on ways to integrate your financial planning with charitable giving.
