In response to what may become the Gulf Coast’s most significant environmental disaster, the Greater Escambia Community Foundation, Inc. has opened the Pennsacola Environmental Relief Fund. Proceeds from this fund will support nonprofit agencies engaged in first response work to help the communities most affected by the oil spill in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. 
 As part of the emergency relief efforts for Haiti, the Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland has established the Community Foundation Emergency Relief Fund to help Haiti and its people recover from the devastating January 12 earthquake.  
State Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown today warned Californians who want to help wildfire victims to avoid "sham charities" that rip off good samaritans after big disasters.
Lisa Kaiser Hickey, Patrick Fagan, Paul Noris and Anu Saxena have been selected to serve on the Council for the Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland.  The new council members started their volunteer post July 1, 2009.
