Community Foundation Honors Local Philanthropist
Lakeland, FL - The Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland is pleased to honor Jay Troxel at its 3rd Annual Legacy Event, to be held Wednesday, February 27 at the Historic Polk Theatre. The evening will begin with a reception at 6:00 p.m. followed by a program.
No one defies pessimism more than Jay Troxel. Growing up in Flint, Michigan, when asked by his elementary school teacher what he wanted to be when he grew up, Jay boldly stated, "a millionaire". Troxel not only accomplished that lofty goal, he in turn has bettered the life of countless individuals because of it, with his humble generosity and philanthropic ideals.
"We are truly delighted to honor Jay Troxel for his charitable commitment here in the Lakeland" stated Barney Barnett, CFGL Council Chair. "His involvement with Carpenters Home Estates, Talbot House, Helpline Ministries, Florida Dance Theatre, VISTE, and the Community Foundation is exemplary."
The Legacy Event is a unique occasion to recognize individuals who "pay it forward" in the community. Individuals should come to this year's event prepared to laugh, learn and gain renewed respect for benevolent endeavors. The Legacy Event is free of charge and open to the entire community.
